Having a look at most of the timepieces released nowadays, it seems that size only matters.
But we think with this nice piece from the late 40s we can easily say: Size doesn’t matter!
These Longines have been delivered to the French Marine ( Marine Nationale) due to their incredible durability.
The 33 mm case with its bezel that gives it an almost stepped profile just looks on point. The movement is a Cal 12.68N and freshly checked by our watchmaker.
On the case back you do find the MN graving as well as the individual number of this issued watch.
This number is also engraved on one of the lugs and inside the case back.
The luminous hands and indexes are filled with radium, and especially the heated blue hands are exactly the little twist that makes this watch so special.
Interesting story on the lettering of the dial:
It clearly says ‘FAB. SUISSE’ which is a must for these M.N. dials.
French law determinate that any products that were imported at that time with a brand name that could give the impression it might have been a french brand and produced in France must clearly notify the consumer where it has been produced.
So as Longines of course sounds very ‘frenchy’ they were one of a long list to have this very prominent printed on their dials.
Right next to a few other well know watchmaker as for example Jaeger le Coultre and many others.
A great issued timepiece with sure a lot of adventures and stories in its mechanical heart!
